 Marcia Gay Harden, born on the 14th of August in 1959 is an American actor. She has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards and an Academy Award.    Born in the La Jolla area of San Diego, California, Harden began her acting career in the late 1980s, appearing in a variety of television shows through the 1980s. Her first film appearance was in 1986's Miller's Crossing, which the Coen brothers directed. In recognition of her performance as artist Lee Krasner in the 2000 biographical film Pollock she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her performance in the film Celeste Boyle (drama film Mystic river (2003) earned her an additional Academy Award nomination. Her other film credits include The First Wives Club (1996), Flubber (1997), Space Cowboys (2000), Mona Lisa Smile (2003), and the Fifty Shades film trilogy.

After studying improv at Chicago's Second City and ImprovOlympic in the early 1990s, Poehler co-founded the improvisational-comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade. The group moved to New York City in 1996 and their show became a half-hour sketch-comedy series on Comedy Central in 1998. Along with the other members of the comedy troupe, Poehler is the creator of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.  In 2001, Poehler joined the cast of the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.
